 About Us
The Cosmic Tree, with its roots deep in
the earth and its branches outstretched to cradle the
heavens, symbolizes the interconnectedness and unity of
all life.
I first
encountered the Cosmic Tree as a towering 700-year old
ceiba tree at the Mayan ruins of Caracol in
Belize. I have learned, since, that it is an important symbol for
cultures around the world.
The Cosmic Tree is known to the Maya as
Yaxché, the Tree of Life. Traditionally the Maya
believed their ancestors came from its roots. To my own
ancestors, the Cosmic Tree was the Oak, or “daur” and at
its root was the door to the dominion of the fairies.
I came away from Caracol with a new appreciation of
our place in the continuing cycle of life and a desire
to help other people renew their communion with the
Earth.

I was fascinated by essential oils already and had
taken aromatherapy classes to learn more about their
properties. Like many people, I am sensitive to some of
the preservatives in mainstream cosmetics, and I was
drawn to concocting alternatives with botanicals.
In talking with others, I often found that
their skin was sensitive to irritants in the personal
care products they were using, too. This
underscored my growing conviction that we have a need to
care for our bodies in harmony with nature, as
generations before us have done.
At the heart of Cosmic Tree Essentials is the desire
to reclaim and revive that rich heritage and, with it,
our sense of well-being. Thank you for your interest in
our company!
